That’s right. Every dollar up to $50,000 whether as part of our new FRIENDS OF 3LEGS monthly contributor program or one-time contribution raised by June 30 will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
HOW YOU’LL BE HELPING: Our dedicated staff takes no compensation. That means that nearly 95% of your contribution is spent on in-Haiti grassroots organization, university scholarships and rural wealth creation programs.
Six communities from across Haiti are part of our 3Legs pilot project. Local development committees in each community selected a total of 19 students and we have provided full scholarships for each of them since they began their studies in 2017. These students will soon earn bachelor degrees in agronomy, veterinary medicine and business and then return to their respective (or assigned) communities for periods of internship service.
Since early 2019 we have already raised over $100,000 to fund the rural wealth creation component of our 3Legs pilot project. Working with our scholarship students, their professors and their local communities we are exploring creative ways to invest in Haiti’s future.
Among the programs we will be investing in is a success-proven initiative developed by the Haitian organization, Smallholder Farmers Alliance. SFA has already helped 6,000 Haitian farmers plant 7,000,000 trees in exchange for credits to purchase needed seed, tools, livestock and training, increasing their yields and substantially improving their economic life while making significant strides to impact the environment.
